W I C
(Women, Infants and Childrens Special Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program) Human Services, Inc. provides
WIC program services in Brown, Decatur, and Shelby Counties.
W I C promotes good health through nutrition and education
W I C provides at no cost to the participant:
Foods high in nutritional value
Nutrition classes and individual counseling
Referrals to health care providers and other helpful services if needed
Who Is Eligible?
- Pregnant womenBreastfeeding mothers (up to one year after delivery)
- Postpartum non-breastfeeding mothers (up to six months after delivery)
- Infants
- Children under five years of age
Participants must also:
- Live within a WIC service area
- Meet income guidelines
- Have nutritional needs
W I C is a special supplemental food program for women, infants, and children, available to all eligible participants without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or religion.

INCOME means total income before deductions.

HOUSEHOLD means a group of related or non-related individuals, who are not residents of an institution, but who are living as one economic unit.
For a self-employed person such as a farmer or a small business owner, the income is deemed to be gross income less business expenses. This figure, as stated in the most recent tax filing, may be used.
