Once the HAP Contract and other related paperwork mentioned in Step 4 are signed,  HSI will process the landlord payment within 60 days of contract execution. The first payment will cover the time from the day the Contract is signed to current payment due. Every month after that, the landlord will receive a monthly check from HSI. The check will be payable to the person or business listed on the W-9 tax form. The owner is responsible for collecting the family's portion of the rent. The owner is never to demand or accept side payments from the family. A side payment is any money paid by a Tenant to the owner the is more than HSI has stated is the tenant's portion to pay.
